WA Government throws its support behind AOG 2015

The importance of the oil and gas sector and the annual AOG Exhibition and Conference to the Western Australian economy can be judged by the strong support the event is receiving from all levels of government.

The WA Government is a major sponsor of AOG 2015 and has also provided important assistance and input into the Conference programme.

This year’s AOG will be officially opened by the Hon. Michael Mischin MLC, WA’s Attorney General and the Minister for Commerce.

Commenting on the State’s relationship with the petroleum sector and AOG, Minister Mischin said the Western Australian Government is proud to be a major sponsor of AOG in 2015 as it sees the event as not only being an unequalled showcase for WA companies, but a stepping stone for many international companies to establish a business presence in Perth.

“For more than three decades, AOG has played an important role in helping to create Perth and WA’s international oil & gas destination reputation.  It has consistently been a platform for bringing together global and Australian oil gas industry companies and suppliers to share ideas and expertise and to build relationships,” Minister Mischin said.

The Minister will be joined on stage during the Conference’s opening Plenary session by the Right Honourable, the Lord Mayor of Perth, Lisa Scaffidi, who will officially welcome AOG participants and attendees to her city.

In the audience supporting them will be upwards of 23 of West Australian Members of Parliament, including Ken Baston MLC, the WA Minister for Agriculture and Food; Fisheries.

WA government representatives are also closely involved the running of the AOG Conference programme, including:

• Dr Graham Jacobs MLA, who will participating in a special FIFO Mental Health Panel Session during the Human Capital stream on day two.
• John O’Hare, General Manager, Marine & Defence, Oil & Gas Services, Australian Marine Complex, Industry Participation, within the WA Department of Commerce will Chairing the first session of the FLNG stream.
• Pru Ayling, Project Manager at Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority within the WA Department of Commerce, who will be Chairing a session on Indigenous Participation on day one of the Conference.
