SIA/IFAP Process Safety Breakfast at AOG

Feb 20, 2015

Following the launch of the SIA/IFAP Strategic Partnership in November last year, SIA and IFAPs strategic partnership continued with their involvement in the successful American Institute of Chemical Engineer’s – Centre for Chemical Process Safety Asia Pacific conference held in Perth at the Parmelia Hilton on the 10th and 11th February.

This conference was chaired by the SIA WA Branch Deputy Chairman, Kym Bills and incorporated presentations from IFAP’s Acting Managing Director, Mark Small and SIA’s National Deputy Chairman, Nathan Winter. The presentation on Balancing Process Safety and Personal Safety, generated plenty of debate on the difference between a Process Safety and Personal Safety incident.

The next SIA/IFAP event will be held at AOG on the morning of Wednesday 11 March proceeding the Australasian Oil and Gas (AOG) conference. The topic for this special Breakfast Seminar event, “Process Safety” has been selected. The “Managing Contractor Safety” stream of the AOG Conference has been jointly coordinated by SIA and IFAP.

Do you want to work in the Oil & Gas industry? If you do, you will need to know about “Process Safety”. Process Safety is a specialist area that is not covered by the OHS Body of Knowledge. Why not take the opportunity to learn about Process Safety, from a Panel of some of Australia’s leading Process Safety specialists that we have assembled including;

  • Trish Kerin – Director for the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Safety Centre,
  • Marc Barnard – Team Leader, Critical Risks for the WA Department of Mines and Petroleum
  • Bronwyn Brookman Smith – Principal Consultant at Risk Consult

These process safety specialists will talk about;

  • What are Process Safety Metrics?
  • How much should an Occupational/Workplace Safety Professional know about Process Safety?
  • What is a Process Safety incident and what is an Occupational Safety incident?
