John O’Hare

Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innnovation

John is Executive Director, Industry Development Division, in the Western Australian Government’s Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation.

His Division is responsible for the implementation and delivery of the WA Industry Link initiative. The initiative is designed to assist local businesses secure more Government contracts and create more local jobs. The WA Industry Link initiative comprises the development and/or implementation of the Western Australian Jobs Act 2017, the Western Australian Industry Participation Strategy, the Industry Link Advisory Service and the WA Industry Link portal.

His Division is also responsible for the implementation and delivery of the Western Australian Buy Local Policy 2022 (WABLP). The WABLP has a strong regional focus and is also focussed on creating opportunities for WA businesses. John’s Division is responsible for delivering the Government’s commitment to manufacture critical iron ore railcar wagon parts, the development of wind turbine manufacture, support the development of stand-alone power systems and building METRONET railcar locally.

John is a member of the Iron Ore Railcar Wagon Manufacturing and Maintenance Action Group, the Wind Farm Manufacturing Action Group, the LNG Taskforce Business Development and Diversification Working Group, the METRONET Railcar Procurement Steering Committee, Subsea Energy Australia, Subsea Innovation Cluster Australia and the AOG Energy Organising Committee.

He is a graduate of the University of Western Australia and Edith Cowan University.
