AOG a major economic contributor for 35 years

Oct 28, 2016 Event News

With a major oil and gas sector focus on the global sharing of industry knowledge, the annual AOG Exhibition & Conference (AOG) will again be a key event on the international oil and gas industry calendar – and a significant contributor to the local economy.

Having brought hundreds of international companies and thousands of overseas visitors to its regular home of Perth in Western Australia for 35 years, AOG 2017 is again attracting significant overseas interest for the next staging at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre (PCEC) from February 22 to 24, 2017.

International delegations from the leading oil and gas centres from around the world will be strongly represented at AOG in 2017, along with many overseas companies and individuals keen to promote their wares and skills in Australia and to learn more about the local industry.

AOG has a well-earned reputation as a significant information forum and as a stepping stone for international companies looking to win contracts in Australia and also in setting up business here.

“As well as being a fantastic conduit for the sharing of knowledge and for promoting new technologies, AOG also provides a unique opportunity for the exhibitors and visitors to make critical contacts and, in a way, test the water, and that has been a major attraction throughout the long history of the event,” AOG Event Director, Bill Hare, said.

“And that goes for local and interstate companies as well as the international ones,” Mr Hare added.

This will once again be the case in 2017 with large official contingents confirmed from Belgium, France, Italy, Norway and Scotland and numerous international companies taking up positions on the Expo floor and participating in the new AOG 2017 Forum and Industry Zone activities.

The annual AOG Exhibition and Conference is also a major event on the Western Australian business calendar, with the WA Government’s Department of Commerce a major sponsor once again in 2017.

“The Department of Commerce is proud to support AOG 2017 and the important contribution it makes to the Western Australian economy each year,” Department of Commerce, Industry Development Director, John O’Hare, said.

“There is no doubt this is a challenging time for the resources sector, but there’s never been a better opportunity to keep collaboration, efficiency and innovation firmly on the agenda.

“Industry attendees at AOG last year were responsible for an average annual spend of $11.5 million, so clearly this event is an important contributor to WA’s petroleum sector – which is valued at $18.4 billion in 2015-16.

“Our State’s economy will also receive a significant boost as around 8,000 visitors are expected for AOG 2017, which it is estimated will generate $15 million in direct visitor expenditure over three days.”

AOG 2017 will feature a series of new events and activities that will ensure the event will once again be a key event for exhibitors and participants in the oil and gas sector.

With a big international contingent already confirming its participation and strong local support in place – stand space is quickly filling up for AOG 2017.
