AOG 2016 launched with Call for Speakers

‘Collaboration’ a key theme in 2016

Planning and preparations are already well advanced for the 2016 staging of Australasia’s largest annual oil and gas event with the distribution of a Call For Speakers notification and the unveiling of a new theme.

Entering its 35^th year, the AOG Exhibition and Conference (AOG) 2016 will be staged at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre (PCEC) from February 24 to 26, 2016.

The 2016 AOG Conference will feature a theme of ’Collaboration‘, once again stressing AOG’s importance as a conduit for the global exchange of information on the new techniques and technologies which will have a critical impact in moving the oil and gas sector forward at a time when it is at a cross roads.

As recognised in a number of key industry presentations this year the current downturn in activity will require all sections of industry and government to collaborate to reduce costs and improve productivity.

The 2016 conference theme of collaboration will also look to support the Australian industry to identify greater efficiencies and innovation as it transitions from construction to operations. That shift from Capex to Opex is a topic which is of particular relevance for Australia’s world-leading LNG sector with four major projects on the East and West coasts expected to come into production over the next 24 months.

The change was recently reflected in a new report from global specialist consultancy Accenture which identified that the right collaboration between industry, government and the workforce has the potential to see LNG developments add more than A$55 billion to Australia’s GDP by 2020.

The Accenture report, titled “Ready or Not? Creating a world-leading oil and gas industry in Australia” has also identified that embracing innovation and digital technologies is a key components if Australia is to achieve that type of world leading success.

That focus on innovation, collaboration and creating efficiencies will certainly be highlighted in the conference content for AOG 2016.

The 2016 AOG Conference Committee is now seeking interesting presentations on a range of topics including Subsea, FLNG, Fixed and Floating Offshore Structures, Safety, Human Capital and Asset Integrity, with the Call for Speakers officially open.

AOG 2016 organiser Diversified Communications is pleased to announce it has formed a new partnership with RINA (Royal Institution of Naval Architects).  In announcing its participation in AOG 2016, RINA said it is very pleased to be joining with AOG in organising a conference stream on Fixed and Floating Offshore Structures, focussing on technical developments in design, construction and operation.

AOG Event Director at Diversified Communications, Bill Hare, said it was the continued and growing collaboration with industry and government that helped maintain AOG as one of the leading global oil and gas industry events.
